Manusha Nanayakkara – Founder Chairman and Executive Director

Manusha successfully completed his secondary education at the Mahinda collage in Galle in 1996. Soon after his high school education he joined the University of Sri Jayawardanapura to follow a diploma in Mass-communication. With the successful completion of the diploma Manusha was trained at the Sri Lanka Television Training Institute as a program producer and a presenter. With a successful completion of SLTI he joined Swarnawahini which is a leading private TV channel in Sri Lanka as a Presenter. During his 04 years of tenure at Swarnawahini, Manusha was given numerous training on presenting and news handling. At the time of his leaving Swarnawahini he was designated as the Deputy News Editor. With the invitation of Rupavahini which is the number one leading, state owned TV channel in Sri Lanka Manusha Joined Rupavahini as the News Editor. During his Media career Manusha interacted with number of social, business and political leaders as a presenter and a program producer that triggered Manusha’s desire to work towards the social development and for the betterment of the underprivileged people in the country. With his vision to create a society in which people can live with peace and dignity Manusha got into fulltime social work in 2004. With his high social reach and acceptability Manusha was invited by the majority of people in the Galle district to contest for a post of a council member in the Southern Provincial Council. As a result of that Manusha was appointed a council member in 2004.

With the noble intention of serving more people in the district Manusha got into party politics and during last three years of his political career he has done various development projects and activities to address issues such as poverty, peace, youth development, and conflict transformation.

With the purpose of serving the majority of the youth in the Galle district in a structured way, Jayavi Lanka was established with the leadership of Manusha in mid 2005 with the blessing of both social and business leaders in the city and the country. The initial training programs and workshops conducted by Jayavi Lanka were embraced by the youth which encouraged Jayavi to expand its activities into other remote areas of the Galle district.  

Manusha also has a strong network with the counterparts of other countries as to benchmark and develop and learn best practices around the worlds. He is the Vice President of Liberal Youth for Sourth Asia (LYSA) which is the youth movement of Liberal. He has been given training on Managing a volunteer Organization; Train the trainers, and Fundamental of Politics, Conflict prevention and Management in countries like India, Thailand and Taiwan, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal and Germany.
